On February 1, BYD released its January 2026 production and sales report. The company sold 210,051 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in January, a year-over-year decline of 30.11%. Of this total, passenger vehicle sales reached 205,518 units, down 30.67% year-on-year. Specifically, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales totaled 83,249 units, down 33.60%, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales reached 122,269 units, down 28.53% compared to the same period last year. However, commercial vehicle sales bucked the trend, rising by 10.78% year-over-year to 4,533 units. Notably, BYD’s exports surged to 100,482 vehicles in January, up 51.47% year-over-year—significantly higher than the 66,336 units exported during the same month last year. In the same period, the company’s total installed capacity for power batteries and energy storage batteries reached approximately 20.187 GWh. The strong export growth underscores BYD’s continuously strengthening competitiveness in global markets.
