Mercedes-Benz plans to launch a more compact "Baby" G-Class as an entry-level version of the iconic G-Class SUV, with its debut expected in 2027. The new model will retain the G-Class’s signature boxy design—featuring straight lines, wide wheel arches, and a vertical front fascia—but its overall length is expected to be kept under 177 inches. Positioned more toward urban and on-road driving, it will still offer a degree of off-road capability. Rumors suggest the vehicle could be named “g-Class” (with a lowercase “g”) and built on Mercedes’ “Core” platform, sharing architecture with the next-generation GLC. Initially, it may be offered with mild-hybrid, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, while a fully electric version could be delayed due to slowing market demand. Pricing is expected to start between $49,000 and $54,000, making it a more accessible luxury SUV option compared to the GLC.
