According to Autocar, the new model will also feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain derived from the CLA. This system, produced by Horse Powertrain, delivers a combined output of 188 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, with the electric motor integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Although the first production version is expected to launch in 2027 initially as a pure EV, the hybrid variant is anticipated to broaden market appeal—particularly in regions like the U.S., where rugged SUVs are favored. The vehicle will be built on a dedicated platform and come standard with all-wheel drive, ensuring it retains the G-Class family’s renowned off-road capability.
