Mercedes-Benz and Geely are deepening their collaboration by jointly developing an electronic and electrical (E/E) architecture at the whole-vehicle level for the first time. According to industry reports on March 6, Mercedes-Benz will build a new all-electric platform codenamed "Phoenix" based on Geely's GEEA 4.0 E/E architecture, which has already entered the proof-of-concept (POC) validation phase. This architecture is compatible with both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles and made its debut in 2024 on the Geely Galaxy E5, helping the model achieve sales of one million units. As one of Daimler’s major shareholders, Geely has previously collaborated with Mercedes-Benz in areas such as engines, hybrid systems, and intelligent driving technologies, but this marks their first joint effort in co-developing an entire vehicle platform. The new platform is expected to reach start of production (SOP) by 2030, replacing the current MMA platform and serving as the foundation for global compact electric models including the A-Class, B-Class, GLA, GLB, and CLA.
