According to foreign media reports, Mercedes-Benz is in early talks with Geely Holding Group regarding the joint development of future all-new battery-electric vehicles. Facing intense competition in China's new energy vehicle market and challenges stemming from high costs and underwhelming sales of its own electric models, Mercedes-Benz hopes to leverage Geely’s mature electric vehicle architecture—such as the GEA platform—and manufacturing capabilities to shorten development cycles and reduce engineering costs. The two companies already have a successful track record of collaboration: their jointly operated smart brand has launched several popular all-electric models. Geely not only holds a stake in Daimler AG but has also accumulated extensive expertise in electrification and intelligent technologies.
