On March 13, Geely Auto Group announced that its advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) has received the UN Regulation No. 171 (UN R171) certification from China-Europe Testing Certification Agency, making Geely the second automaker—after BMW—to obtain this certification. The certification is widely regarded as a "passport" to the European market, meaning that mass-produced vehicles equipped with this system can be legally sold across all member states of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) without requiring individual country-by-country approvals. Geely stated that the first Lotus-branded vehicle featuring this system will officially launch in Europe in June 2026. Lotus, a British automotive brand, is now part of Geely Holding Group’s Lotus Tech (NASDAQ: LOT). This certification marks a critical milestone for Geely in the field of intelligent driving and lays a solid foundation for its accelerated expansion into the European market.
