Audi sold 480k units in China from Jan-Sept, up 15.4% year-on-year

On Oct. 6, Audi officially released global sales figures for January to September in 2018. IIA learned that Audi has delivered 1,407,700 units of new vehicles worldwide, a year-on-year increase of 2%. Among them, figures of the Chinese market are prominent. From January to September, 483,001 units were delivered, an increase of 15.4% year-on-year, making China the only region with high growth among Audi's main markets.

According to sales figures released by Audi China, Audi delivered 139,150 vehicles to the global market in September, a decrease of about 22.0% over the previous year. As for the decline, the main reason is due to the serious sales decline in the European market. Audi sold 37,200 units in the European market in September, down 55.5% year-on-year. Performance in the North American continued its good trend with its sales in September increased by 1.2%. Audi USA made a sales record for the 93rd consecutive month, reaching 19,350 units, up 0.2% year-on-year.

In the Chinese market, Audi's deliveries in September increased significantly by 12.5% to 65,767 units, accounting for 47% of total global sales. From January to September this year, Audi has delivered 483,001 vehicles in China, an increase of 15.4% year-on-year. In general, China has become the only market with high growth among Audi's main markets.

In terms of specific models, Audi A4L was sold 17,199 units, a surge of 41.7% year-on-year. In the first nine months of 2018, despite the Audi Q5L replacement, the cumulative sales of Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7 still reached 162,329 units, up 3.0% year-on-year. In addition, Audi A8, which just entered China this year, also achieved double-digit growth in September, with sales of 1,426 units, a growth rate of 66.4%.

Audi is to launch two new models in the Q4 of 2018. As the first Audi's Q-family SUV named with an even number, Audi Q2L will be officially launched on October 13th, targeting young consumers. In addition, Audi A4L facelift will be introduced to the market in 2019. Two new cars will further boost Audi's future market performance.
