On January 26, 2025, automotive blogger "Tongkuai Shuchang" released a sales ranking of million-yuan-plus luxury vehicles in the Chinese market. BYD's Yangwang U8L and U8 ranked 15th and 16th with sales of 1,538 and 1,112 units respectively, becoming the only Chinese brands on the list. All other spots were occupied by overseas luxury marques such as Porsche, Land Rover, and Mercedes-Benz, with the Porsche Cayenne leading the chart at 17,194 units sold. Although sales of the two rugged Yangwang SUVs each fell short of one-tenth of the top-selling models, their inclusion marks the first time a Chinese brand has broken through the foreign-dominated monopoly and officially entered the million-yuan-plus luxury vehicle segment.
