From January to February this year, China exported 583,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs), a 110% year-on-year increase, accounting for 43% of the country’s total vehicle exports—nearly 5 percentage points higher than the share in all of 2023. Amid the global trend toward green transformation, Chinese NEVs are gaining stronger international competitiveness thanks to their advantages in technology, supply chain efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. However, challenges such as trade protectionism, high tariffs, and regulatory barriers persist. Industry experts recommend that automakers enhance compliance capabilities, drive localized product innovation, and build an integrated overseas ecosystem covering R&D, sales, and after-sales services to mitigate risks and unlock growth potential.
