Chevrolet Camaro is set to return to the market, with General Motors planning to develop a new Camaro based on the platform used for the next-generation Cadillac CT5. According to a source familiar with GM’s major suppliers, production of both the Camaro and the all-new CT5 will begin in the fall of 2027. The same platform will also underpin a new Buick sedan—the brand’s first return to the sedan segment since 2020. GM plans to produce between 60,000 and 70,000 units annually of the CT5 and Camaro combined. Currently, Cadillac CT4 and CT5 models are built at GM’s Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan. Production of the CT4 is scheduled to end in June 2024, and operating the facility with only the CT5 might prove unsustainable. The sixth-generation Camaro was discontinued in 2023 without an immediate successor. In 2025, reports indicated that GM had rejected a proposal to revive the seventh-generation Camaro due to unfavorable business prospects. However, recent information suggests GM has now developed a viable plan for a new Camaro, which is expected to share significant hardware with the next-generation CT5 and likely debut as a 2028 model.
