Tesla has expanded its Robotaxi autonomous ride-hailing service to Dallas and Houston. The company announced on social media, "Robotaxi is now live in Dallas and Houston," accompanied by a 14-second video showing vehicles operating autonomously without anyone monitoring from the driver's seat. Tesla initially launched the service in Austin last year and began offering rides without safety drivers in that city starting January 2026. The company now operates Robotaxi services in three Texas cities. According to filings submitted by Tesla in February, its autonomous taxis in Austin have been involved in 14 collisions since their launch. Additionally, Tesla offers a limited-scale ride service in the San Francisco Bay Area with human drivers present. Crowdsourced data from an autonomous vehicle tracking website indicates that Dallas and Houston each currently have only one registered operational vehicle, while Austin has 46.
