Toyota and Isuzu have announced a collaboration to develop Japan's first mass-produced light-duty electric truck equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain, targeting commercial production in fiscal year 2027. Based on Isuzu’s ELFEV battery-electric light truck launched in 2023, the vehicle will utilize Isuzu’s I-MACS product development platform and integrate Toyota’s third-generation fuel cell system. Powered by hydrogen, the truck is designed to meet the demands of logistics and delivery operations for long range, rapid refueling, and quiet operation. This partnership focuses on advancing the practical application of hydrogen fuel cell technology in the light commercial vehicle segment.
