In March 2026, the overseas passenger vehicle export destinations of China’s three leading automakers—BYD, Geely Holding, and Chery Holding—showed distinct regional patterns. BYD ranked first in exports that month, shipping 41,037 vehicles primarily to Central America, South America, and North America. The second-largest market was the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) region, with 27,039 units exported. Other regions followed in descending order: rest of Asia (8,707 units), Southeast Asia (8,614), Middle East (5,745), Oceania (5,325), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries (3,257), Africa (2,202), other parts of Europe (332), and North America (255). Overall, BYD’s export pattern demonstrated high regional concentration and a strong competitive edge in core markets. Geely Holding’s largest export destination was the CIS region, with 17,037 vehicles shipped. This was closely followed by Southeast Asia (11,353 units), the EU+UK+EFTA bloc (10,682 units), and Central & South America (10,054 units). Additional markets included Africa (7,863), rest of Asia (3,547), Oceania (2,396), North America (1,799), other parts of Europe (188), and the Middle East (96). Geely maintained a balanced global footprint, with the CIS as its core market and coordinated growth across multiple regions. Chery Holding, meanwhile, adopted a dual-core strategy, with the EU+UK+EFTA region (38,111 units) and CIS countries (34,154 units) together accounting for over 70,000 exported vehicles. A secondary tier comprised Central & South America (21,149 units), the Middle East (11,714), Africa (10,686), and Southeast Asia (10,359). Subsequent markets included North America (6,140), rest of Asia (3,746), Oceania (3,536), and other parts of Europe (420). Chery’s export structure featured “dual-core leadership with multi-point support,” reflecting broad geographic diversification and relatively strong resilience to regional risks.
