On May 21, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released documents showing that Tesla is recalling 14,575 Model Y vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years. The recall affects 2025 Model Y vehicles manufactured between November 17, 2024, and February 24, 2025, as well as 2026 Model Y vehicles produced from February 25, 2025, through April 21, 2026. The recall stems from the absence of a certification label required under U.S. federal regulation 49 C.F.R. Part 567, which contains vehicle weight information. Without this label, owners could unintentionally overload their vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. Tesla will inspect the affected vehicles and, if necessary, install the certification label free of charge.
