On May 26, 2026, German automotive supplier Webasto plans to establish a joint venture with Chinese glass manufacturer Zhejiang Fujia Technology Co., Ltd. Webasto will hold a 30% stake in the venture, subject to approval by China’s antitrust regulators. The two companies will jointly develop and produce Fixed Panoramic Glass Roofs (FTMs) tailored for the Chinese market. This collaboration aims to combine Fujia’s expertise and local market strengths in glass manufacturing and processing with Webasto’s experience in automotive roof system integration, delivering cost-effective and technologically advanced FTM solutions to Chinese OEMs. The joint venture will focus on developing new functionalities for roof glass, including integrated ambient lighting, smart sunshades, solar technology, and entertainment features. Webasto will also offer openable roof systems. As Chinese automakers increasingly prioritize innovative interiors and passenger comfort, FTMs and openable glass roofs are becoming more important due to their modern design, advanced technical features, and high cost-performance ratio. This joint venture is part of Webasto’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in the Chinese market. Since entering China in 2001, the company has continuously expanded its operations and earned numerous certifications and accolades. Through this partnership, Webasto aims to further strengthen its relationships with local OEMs and enhance its participation in China’s fast-growing, high-tech automotive segments.
