The 2026 Greater Bay Area Auto Show opened on May 29, where FAW-Volkswagen unveiled the ID. AURA T6—the first model in its ID. AURA series—alongside a special Dragon Boat Edition. This limited edition features kapok blossom orange as its primary color, accented with golden dragon motifs inspired by dragon boat culture, creating a distinctive visual identity. The ID. AURA T6 is a five-seat midsize all-electric SUV, officially debuted on April 21. Built on Volkswagen’s new CEA (Centralized Electronic Architecture), it embodies the brand’s “Practical Naturalism” design philosophy. Externally, it features square-shaped headlights, semi-recessed door handles, and high-gloss black wheel arches. A LiDAR sensor, driver-assistance indicator light (in signature blue), and cameras are seamlessly integrated into the body. As Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV equipped with LiDAR, the ID. AURA T6 will be fitted with an advanced intelligent driving assistance system developed by Cariad China, a joint venture between Volkswagen Group and Horizon Robotics. The system delivers class-leading computing power and is specifically optimized for Chinese road conditions. Additionally, the Volkswagen Group announced plans to launch approximately 30 new energy vehicle (NEV) models in the Chinese market by 2027, expanding to around 50 NEVs by 2030—including roughly 30 battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
