The Trump administration plans to revise the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to require that auto parts and raw materials used in vehicles eligible for the agreement’s lower tariff rates be at least 50% sourced from within the United States. The current agreement does not include a separate U.S. content requirement. According to informed sources, Trump administration negotiators have already put forward proposals for such revisions.
