On May 29, 2026, at the 30th Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, Volvo officially launched its all-electric EX90 SUV and ES90 sedan. The vehicles are offered with time-limited premium launch prices starting from RMB 459,900 and RMB 389,900 respectively, accompanied by six exclusive ownership benefits. Both models are equipped with Volvo’s self-developed third-generation electric drive system, delivering 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.2 seconds for the EX90 and 3.9 seconds for the ES90. Power delivery emphasizes linearity and smoothness, balancing performance with driving stability. The EX90 comes standard with Brembo high-performance brake calipers, achieving a 100–0 km/h braking distance of just 35 meters. It has also successfully completed a rigorous 16-kilometer continuous downhill test on Alpine roads with a 9% gradient, validating the braking system’s resistance to thermal fade. The chassis features an all-aluminum structure to reduce unsprung mass and enhance dynamic responsiveness. Both models are fitted with an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system that adjusts damping firmness according to road conditions and driving demands. Extensively calibrated and tested across Sweden, Germany, Spain, and other regions, the vehicles have been validated in diverse environments including icy roads, mountain passes, and racetracks. Inside the cabin, both models come standard with an electrochromic panoramic roof that blocks 99.5% of UV rays and incorporates Sunlike full-spectrum lighting technology to reduce harmful blue light exposure. Interior trim includes 0.6mm-thick real wood panels with integrated bamboo grain and starry sky patterns. The audio system, supplied by Bowers & Wilkins, features 25 speakers—including four headrest speakers and four overhead speakers—with a total output of 1,610W. It supports 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and Abbey Road Studio mode, offering four preset sound profiles. In terms of safety, both vehicles adopt a dedicated EV cage-like body structure, with A-, B-, and C-pillars constructed from 1,500 MPa ultra-high-strength boron steel, enabling a roof crush resistance exceeding four times the vehicle’s weight. The battery pack is protected by a boron steel upper cover, a 10mm aluminum alloy underbody plate, and multiple reinforced cross beams, providing 360-degree protection. It has passed stringent side pole impact and underbody intrusion tests, ensuring zero penetration into the battery cells. An intelligent dual-fuse high-voltage cutoff system can disconnect the high-voltage circuit within 3 milliseconds, while a fully in-house developed Battery Management System (BMS) continuously monitors battery status in real time. Built on Volvo’s native SPA2 pure-electric architecture, both models achieve nearly 50% higher torsional rigidity compared to the previous platform, significantly enhancing both body and battery safety.
