SAIC Motor reported total vehicle sales of 349,000 units in May, up 46.5% year-over-year, bringing its cumulative sales for January–May to 1,651,000 units. Sales of its self-owned brands rose 14.7% year-over-year in May and increased 8.6% year-over-year for the first five months, accounting for over 70% of the group’s total sales. New energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached 182,000 units in May, up 46.5% year-over-year, with cumulative NEV sales from January to May totaling 595,000 units, an increase of 13.2% year-over-year. Overseas sales totaled 589,000 units from January to May, surging 45.9% year-over-year. Breaking down the figures further: SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company saw May sales grow by 37.7% year-over-year; SAIC MAXUS recorded a 43.7% year-over-year increase; and SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 119,000 vehicles in May. Among NEVs, IM Motors achieved cumulative sales of 32,000 units from January to May, soaring 114.6% year-over-year, while SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company’s NEV sales totaled 174,000 units, up 195% year-over-year. Among joint ventures, SAIC-GM’s NEV sales reached 13,000 units in May, up 75% year-over-year, and SAIC Volkswagen’s NEV sales neared 10,000 units, rising 34.3% year-over-year. In the European market, MG brand sales totaled 150,000 units from January to May, up 20% year-over-year, maintaining its position as the top-selling Chinese brand in Europe.
