In May 2024, Tesla recorded significant year-over-year growth in new vehicle registrations across several European countries. According to data from the French Automobile Manufacturers Association (PFA), Tesla registered 5,446 vehicles in France, a surge of 655% compared to the same period last year. Data from Norway’s Vehicle Information Council (OFV) showed 3,345 registrations in Norway, up 29% year-over-year. Tesla also posted strong growth in other European markets: - Denmark: 1,750 registrations, up 136% (source: bilstatistik.dk) - Spain: 1,690 registrations, up 113% (source: ANFAC) - Portugal: 1,463 registrations, up 349% (source: ACAP) - Sweden: 858 registrations, up 71% (source: Mobility Sweden) Italy was the only major market to see a decline, with 654 registrations in May, down 23.5% year-over-year. However, Tesla’s cumulative sales in Italy for the first five months of 2024 still rose by over 15% compared to the same period in 2023. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), supported by favorable policies, purchase incentives, and high fuel prices, registrations of electrified vehicles in Europe rose by approximately 21% year-over-year in April 2024, accounting for more than two-thirds of total new vehicle registrations. Official new vehicle registration data for May has not yet been released for the UK and Germany.
