At the 2026 Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone Industrial Investment Promotion Conference, Luo Zhongliang, Vice President of BYD Company Limited, stated that the company’s decision to invest in Shenshan five years ago was “absolutely correct.” He noted that Phase I of BYD’s Shenshan Industrial Park is now operating at full capacity, Phase II’s production capacity is steadily increasing, and Phases III and IV commenced operations in 2025. The second-generation Blade Battery, launched in March 2026, is being produced at this facility. Luo expressed repeated gratitude to the Shenzhen municipal government for its support. He recalled that during the early stages of new energy vehicle (NEV) adoption, Shenzhen enabled BYD to pilot electric buses and taxis, helping the city become the world’s first to fully electrify its public bus fleet in 2017. “The first half of the electrification journey began in Shenzhen—and concluded in Shenzhen,” he said. Additionally, BYD has launched its “Flash Charge China” initiative, aiming to build 20,000 flash charging stations nationwide by the end of 2026. As of the end of May 2026, over 6,150 flash charging stations have been built across the country, including 149 in Shenzhen. Paired with the second-generation Blade Battery, BYD’s flash charging technology enables vehicles to achieve a “5-minute partial charge and a 9-minute full charge.” Even at temperatures as low as minus 30°C, charging time increases by only three minutes.
