On June 5, 2024, Audi unveiled the all-new mid-engine supercar Nuvolari, limited to just 499 units globally, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027. Positioned as the most powerful and fastest production car in Audi’s history, the Nuvolari pays homage to legendary racing driver Tazio Nuvolari and is regarded as the spiritual successor to the R8. The Nuvolari marks Audi’s first supercar equipped with a high-performance hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined system output of 1,001 horsepower (736 kW). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. The powertrain comprises a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine—derived from the Lamborghini Temerario—and three axial-flux electric motors. The V8 alone produces 800 hp (588 kW) and 730 N·m of torque, revving up to 10,000 rpm. Two oil-cooled axial-flux motors mounted on the front axle each deliver 110 kW, generating up to 2,150 N·m of torque, while a third motor is positioned between the engine and transmission. Power is stored in a 7.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The chassis features Audi’s quattro predictive ride four-wheel-drive system, developed with Formula 1-inspired principles. This system proactively intervenes when anticipating traction loss, enhancing stability through precise longitudinal and lateral torque vectoring and targeted braking interventions. Aerodynamic components dynamically adjust downforce based on driving conditions. For the first time, Audi combines its ASF (Audi Space Frame) technology with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer body panels—nearly every exterior component is crafted from carbon fiber. The braking system debuts the new Audi Ceramic Pro setup: the front axle uses ten-piston fixed calipers paired with 420×40 mm discs, while the rear employs four-piston calipers with 410×32 mm discs. A race-derived brake-by-wire system enables variable blending of regenerative and hydraulic braking, allowing for pure electric deceleration up to 0.3g. Stylistically, the Nuvolari is the first production Audi to adopt the brand’s new design language, drawing inspiration from the Concept C. Its front-end Singleframe grille is flatter and more vertically oriented. With an ultra-low, muscular stance, the car is offered exclusively in left-hand drive and features Audi’s signature Titanium paint finish. Design cues pay tribute to the Auto Union Type C Grand Prix racers of the 1930s.
