Toyota Motor Corporation announced on May 27, 2025, that it will implement an organizational restructuring effective July 1, 2026, establishing a new "Manufacturing Technology Headquarters." This new division will consolidate manufacturing technology-related functions previously housed within the Production Headquarters, Manufacturing Development Center, and Powertrain Company. The move aims to pool technical expertise across domains and drive integrated collaboration among technology, production, and manufacturing technology to strengthen Toyota’s future-oriented manufacturing capabilities. The Manufacturing Development Center was originally established on January 1, 2020, with the goal of creating an environment that transcends traditional boundaries, enabling hands-on experience with diverse production technologies and skills to enhance the development of manufacturing specialists. This reorganization is viewed as a strategic step toward the next phase of growth, more than six years after the center's inception. The newly formed Manufacturing Technology Headquarters will be led by Takeshi Shiga, currently Executive Vice President and Chief Production Officer, as its Head. Motoyoshi Watanabe, former Director of the Manufacturing Development Center, will serve as Deputy Head, and Yuzuko Kamata, former Manager of the Mikawa Plant, will assume the role of Chief Project Officer for the headquarters.
