The Volkswagen ID.Polo and Cupra Raval have officially entered production at the Martorell plant in Spain, marking the facility’s full transition to electrification. Both models belong to the “electric city car family” and are built on a shared platform, which will also underpin two upcoming all-electric Škoda models—bringing the total to four EVs produced at the same factory. Positioned as an entry-level electric vehicle, the ID.Polo is priced below €25,000. It measures 4,050 mm in length, 1,812 mm in width, and 1,530 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Its design follows the styling cues of the ID.2all concept car, featuring a full-width light bar, a closed-off front grille, and air intakes. The ID.Polo offers three motor output options (85 kW, 99 kW, and 155 kW) paired with either a 37 kWh or 52 kWh battery pack, delivering WLTP ranges of 329 km and 454 km, respectively. It supports DC fast charging—replenishing from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes—and includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply capability along with the latest-generation Connected Travel Assist driver assistance system. The Cupra Raval is also developed on the MEB+ platform, with its length kept under four meters. It features a more dynamic design and a driver-focused interior equipped with 3D-knitted CUP Bucket seats and dynamic ambient lighting projections on the door panels. It targets a WLTP range of approximately 450 km and is scheduled to launch in summer 2026 in three variants. The Martorell plant has received over €3 billion in investment for its electrification transformation and now has the capacity to simultaneously produce battery-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and highly efficient internal combustion engine models. As part of its “Future: Fast Forward” initiative, the Volkswagen Group is investing €10 billion in Spain to accelerate the development of electric mobility. SEAT and Cupra currently employ over 13,000 people across three manufacturing sites—in Martorell, El Prat, and Barcelona—and export their vehicles to more than 70 countries, with exports accounting for over 80% of total production.
