During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period (2026–2030), the low-altitude economy will be prioritized as an emerging pillar industry. Flying cars—serving as the key enabler for transitioning from industrial-grade drone operations to manned transportation—are driving the formation of a trillion- to ten-trillion-yuan industrial cluster. In Chengdu, Sichuan Province, a six-seat, all-electric flying car is currently undergoing airworthiness certification. Featuring a tilt-rotor configuration, this model achieves a maximum speed of 230 km/h and has already completed the first phase of validation flight tests for its production-ready version. Its cabin supports flexible seating layouts and automatic seat adjustments, with an interior design resembling that of a premium business vehicle. It is slated for use in low-altitude tourism, urban air mobility, and emergency rescue scenarios. The flying car industry has already made substantial progress in routine validation flights, airspace management frameworks, real-world application deployment, and infrastructure development, marking its entry into a commercial exploration phase. Current applications are primarily focused on high-value, time-sensitive domains such as medical evacuation, specialized firefighting and rescue operations, and premium point-to-point transport. With advancing technology and declining costs, widespread adoption—enabling users to hail flying cars via ride-hailing apps—is expected within the next decade.
