On June 8, 2026, BYD Dynasty Network released official images of its new D-segment flagship sedan, the "Da Han." Internally codenamed "Series 9," this model marks Dynasty’s first foray into the D-segment luxury market. First announced in January 2026, the Da Han made its official debut in June of the same year. The Da Han measures nearly 5.3 meters in length with a wheelbase exceeding 3.1 meters, positioning it directly against the long-wheelbase Audi A8L and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Its exterior adopts the latest iteration of BYD’s "Dragon Face" family design language: a low-slung front fascia features slim headlights and a full-width light bar; the side profile showcases a fastback silhouette, a tapered waistline, flush door handles, and black sporty alloy wheels; while the rear end embraces a minimalist, wide-body aesthetic, expected to include a贯穿式 tail lamp (full-width taillight), along with options for two-tone paint finishes and color-matched large brake calipers. Powertrain-wise, the Da Han will be offered in both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) variants, equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology. The BEV lineup includes an 800-km all-wheel-drive laser radar flagship variant and a 1,008-km rear-wheel-drive laser radar premium variant. The intelligent driving system is expected to feature the "God’s Eye B ADAS Laser Edition" and the "God’s Eye 5.0" solution—both powered by end-to-end large AI models—and supported by a roof-mounted LiDAR unit enabling advanced driver-assistance capabilities. For chassis configuration, the Da Han is equipped with BYD’s Yunni Intelligent Body Control System and rear-wheel steering, enhancing suspension adaptability and urban maneuverability. These technologies were previously reserved for high-end brands like Yangwang and Denza. The name "Da Han" was selected through a public naming campaign, receiving the highest votes among six candidates: "Da Han," "Han 9," "Han Ultra," "Han · Tianxia," "Xiao Han," and "Han · Chitu." This naming strategy builds upon the established brand recognition of the existing "Han" series IP. In May 2026, combined sales from BYD’s Dynasty and Ocean Networks reached 330,215 units, primarily targeting the RMB 100,000–200,000 price segment. During the same period, Denza sold 16,303 vehicles, still insufficient to fully support BYD’s ambitions in the premium market. Notably, BYD had previously lacked a core offering in the RMB 300,000–400,000 luxury sedan segment. Together with the full-size SUV "Da Tang," the Da Han forms the "Dynasty Series 9" flagship duo, filling this critical product gap. Currently, Audi has confirmed that the successor to the current A8L won’t arrive before 2029 at the earliest, leaving a gap in its D-segment executive sedan lineup between 2026 and 2029. Meanwhile, most domestic new-energy flagship sedans lean toward sporty styling, lacking a true executive-oriented D-segment offering. With its formal, executive-grade proportions, the Da Han aims squarely at this strategic market window. Priced around the RMB 300,000 mark, the Da Han will directly compete with the NIO ET7, Huawei-backed Enjoy S9, and traditional luxury models from BMW, Benz, and Audi (BBA). Strategically, its goal is not volume-driven sales but rather establishing BYD’s brand presence and credibility in the luxury sedan segment.
