Geely’s fifth-generation Emgrand i-HEV Intelligent Hybrid will officially launch on June 16. Built on Geely’s next-generation BMA Evo global modular architecture, the vehicle retains the styling of its ICE counterpart, featuring a polygonal front grille, vertical-slat mesh, triple-segment LED daytime running lights, and polygonal air intakes with chrome accents. The lower front bumper houses a trapezoidal cooling opening. The ICE version built on the same platform achieves a torsional rigidity of 26,000 N·m/deg, with high-strength steel accounting for 70% of the body structure. The new model is powered by Geely’s i-HEV Intelligent Hybrid system, which employs a P1+P3 dual-motor decoupled architecture and an integrated 11-in-1 hybrid electric drive unit. The drive motor delivers a peak output of 230 kW. Its dedicated engine, certified by China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), achieves a thermal efficiency of 48.41%—the highest among all mass-produced engines globally today. Under WLTC driving conditions, the electric drive dominates over 80% of the operating scenarios, reducing engine runtime by more than 27% compared to conventional hybrids. The vehicle can operate in pure-electric mode at speeds up to 66 km/h, accelerating from 0–30 km/h in just 1.84 seconds, with a power response time of only 10 milliseconds. In terms of NVH performance, proprietary technologies—including EOC (Engine Order Cancellation) active engine order noise control and intelligent stop-position prediction—reduce start-up vibrations by 32.7%. Overall cabin noise is only 1 dB higher than that of a pure electric vehicle. On the intelligence front, the system leverages Geely’s full-domain AI 2.0 technology and debuts the Galaxy AI Cloud Powertrain 2.0 large model, which continuously senses environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and altitude to dynamically optimize energy management strategies, achieving over 10% improvement in overall energy efficiency. Based on Geely’s dedicated GEEA 3.0 electronic/electrical architecture, the vehicle enables seamless data sharing and coordinated control across intelligent driving, cabin, chassis, and powertrain systems.
