Retail sales data for May 2024 show that among new energy vehicles (NEVs) from joint-venture brands in the Chinese market, SAIC-GM's Buick ZhiJing E7 topped the chart with 7,668 units sold. GAC Toyota's bZ3X—all-electric models across the lineup—ranked second with 6,731 units sold. SAIC Volkswagen’s ID.6 X (the original text’s “ID.EAR9X” appears to be a typographical error) came in third, with monthly sales reaching 5,004 units. Joint-venture brands including Buick, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Nissan have actively expanded their presence in the NEV segment and achieved initial success. In contrast, Honda remained relatively quiet that month, failing to break into the top ranks of NEV sales.
