A photo posted on June 10 by Instagram user “rollendereporter” shows a Xiaomi YU7 GT prototype parked beside the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, bearing the number “12” on its side and accompanied by a sign reading “Nordschleife Autonomous Driving Prototype – Nürburgring Official Lap Time,” indicating it is a prototype vehicle used for autonomous driving tests. The user claimed this image was part of Xiaomi’s upcoming promotional material announcing an autonomous lap time record and hinted that the autonomous lap time might be significantly slower than the previous run driven by Xiaomi’s chief test driver, Ren Zhoucan. Xiaomi has not yet officially commented on the YU7 GT’s autonomous driving challenge at the Nürburgring. Previously, on May 21, Xiaomi officially launched the high-performance SUV YU7 GT, equipped with a dual-motor system delivering a combined peak output of 738 kW and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds. The YU7 GT fitted with the optional Track Pro Package achieved an officially certified Nürburgring lap time of 7 minutes 22.755 seconds, making it the fastest production SUV ever around the circuit. On May 19, 2026, Ren Zhoucan drove the YU7 GT to set a then-record SUV lap time of 7 minutes 34.931 seconds at the Nürburgring. Xiaomi Auto stated that its testing at the Nürburgring aims not only to chase lap times but also to validate the vehicle’s stability and cornering performance under extreme conditions. According to prior reports, the YU7 GT was spotted testing at the Nürburgring in October 2025, with speculation suggesting it is based on the triple-motor platform of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and could produce around 1,500 horsepower. The SU7 Ultra prototype, driven by professional driver David Pittard, recorded a lap time of 6 minutes 46.874 seconds at the Nürburgring in October 2024, ranking fourth among prototypes.
