Tesla has begun installing its foldable Supercharger stations across Europe and plans a large-scale rollout at major highway rest stops across the continent by the third quarter of 2026. These chargers are factory-preassembled, fourth-generation modular units featuring an industrial hinge structure mounted on heavy-duty concrete foundations. Once delivered to the site, they only require unfolding and electrical connection before becoming operational. The new units come equipped with retractable light poles for easier transportation and rapid deployment. Compared to traditional fixed Supercharger stations, each truckload can carry 33% more charging stalls, installation time is reduced by approximately 50%, and overall deployment costs drop by more than 20%. Each station includes one fourth-generation power cabinet and eight charging posts. The cabinet delivers up to 500 kW per stall for passenger vehicles and up to 1.2 MW for Tesla Semi trucks—doubling the number of stalls supported compared to the previous generation and tripling power density. The charging posts feature extended cables, enabling direct use by non-Tesla vehicles. Tesla has already opened its charging network to automakers including Ford, General Motors, Rivian, Hyundai, and Stellantis, with compatibility for third-party EVs being a key strategic focus. Tesla’s Gigafactory in New York ceased production of third-generation Supercharger power cabinets in March 2026 and has fully transitioned to manufacturing fourth-generation units. The European launch of these foldable chargers marks a new phase in Tesla’s product evolution. Although exact locations remain undisclosed, social media images strongly suggest the first site is in Norway—a country historically chosen as Tesla’s preferred European pilot market for new charging infrastructure due to its high EV adoption rate and robust supporting infrastructure.
