Recently, photos surfaced on overseas social media showing Xiaomi's team conducting tests at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The images depict a Xiaomi YU7 GT autonomous driving prototype marked with the number "12" parked beside the track, next to a sign reading "Official Lap Time for Autonomous Prototype at the Nürburgring," indicating that this vehicle is a dedicated autonomous version specifically developed for Nürburgring testing. The accompanying posts suggested that the lap time achieved by this autonomous prototype might be slower than records set by human drivers. The Xiaomi YU7 GT is a high-performance SUV officially launched on May 21. It features a dual-motor system delivering a combined peak power output of 738 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds. Previously, during official Nürburgring tests, Xiaomi’s chief test driver Ren Zhoucan drove a YU7 GT equipped with the optional Track Package to lap times of 7 minutes 34.931 seconds and 7 minutes 22.755 seconds, successively breaking the record for the fastest production SUV lap time at the Nürburgring. Xiaomi stated that testing at the Nürburgring serves not only to pursue faster lap times but also functions as a core validation platform under extreme operating conditions.
