On June 12, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) published two invention patent applications filed by BYD. One patent relates to a "Method for Detecting Living Organisms Under a Vehicle, Computer Program Product, Electronic Device, and Vehicle." The technical solution captures an image of the area beneath the vehicle as a reference image when the vehicle is powered off. It then compares real-time images of the vehicle's underside with this reference image to identify regions with differences as target areas for detection. Feature information is extracted from these regions to determine whether a living organism is present and its condition, aiming to enhance the specificity, efficiency, and accuracy of detection. The other patent, titled "Method for Detecting Occupants Left in a Vehicle," uses radar to obtain channel impulse responses and extracts frequency-domain features and angle-of-arrival data to identify whether any occupants have been left inside the vehicle. Previously, BYD has already filed multiple related patents in areas such as in-cabin occupant detection and under-vehicle living organism detection.
