Li Auto has clarified the change from a six-seater to a five-seater configuration for its all-new L8, stating that this model is a flagship SUV specifically designed for five-seat users—not merely a simplified version of the six-seater with the third row removed. From the initial stages of body-in-white development and interior packaging, the new L8 was independently engineered around the concept of a “flagship two-row five-seater,” aiming to eliminate traditional compromises seen in conventional five-seat SUVs regarding second-row comfort, cargo space, or driving dynamics. Built on a native five-seat architecture, the L8 offers more generous second-row legroom, easier ingress and egress, and a fully intact trunk capacity. Inside, it features Li Auto’s industry-first tandem zero-gravity seats: the second-row seatbacks recline up to 55°, while both front seats also incorporate zero-gravity functionality, enabling occupants to quickly relax during parking or charging stops. In terms of specifications, the all-new L8 comes standard across all trims with a 72.7 kWh 5C ultra-fast-charging battery, third-generation dual-chamber air suspension with dual valves, steer-by-wire technology, rear-wheel steering, a flagship-grade audio-visual system, and the Maha intelligent driver-assistance suite. The vehicle will officially launch on June 23, available in Ultra and Livis variants.
