Dongfeng Motor’s self-developed next-generation solid-state battery is scheduled to enter mass production and vehicle integration in the second half of 2026. Utilizing a highly thermally stable solid electrolyte, the battery aims to reduce thermal runaway risks and increase energy storage capacity within the same volume. Dongfeng has already established a fully automated pilot production line covering more than 20 processes, achieving full in-house control over core technologies—from electrode materials and solid electrolytes to complete battery pack integration. To address mass-production challenges posed by solid electrolytes, such as high internal resistance, the team has advanced commercialization through optimized contact interfaces, directional pressure relief, thermal-electrical separation, and novel material applications.
