At the 9th Intelligent Driving and Global Expansion Conference held on June 17, 2026, Xing Bin, Vice President of Autonomous Driving and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) at Jaguar Land Rover China, stated that competition in the ADAS industry has shifted from a race for technological supremacy to a comprehensive contest over engineering efficiency, organizational agility, cost optimization, and ecosystem integration. He noted that 2025 marks a pivotal year for "democratizing intelligent driving technology," with vehicles priced between RMB 100,000 and RMB 150,000—and even lower—now commonly equipped with L2.5 to L2.9 intelligent driving systems. In the premium segment above RMB 500,000, L2+ features are no longer key selling points; instead, customers increasingly prioritize advanced autonomous driving capabilities. Xing highlighted that chip manufacturing processes have rapidly advanced from tens of nanometers to 5nm and even 3nm, with computing power undergoing generational leaps every two to three years—driving fundamental changes in software architecture and accelerating the trend toward integrated "cockpit-driving" systems. Faced with China-specific challenges—including geopolitical dynamics, supply chain complexities, and industrial policies—global automakers must make strategic choices between maintaining global operational consistency and establishing independent local decision-making capabilities. Jaguar Land Rover emphasizes that all development requirements will originate from end users, aiming to "do the right thing at the right time" while rigorously upholding quality standards and testing protocols. Addressing the speed-driven competitive landscape of China’s intelligent driving market, Xing warned that user trust in intelligent driving systems builds slowly but collapses quickly—if systems frequently malfunction, users may permanently abandon those features. Therefore, between "user experience" and "development speed," Jaguar Land Rover prioritizes experience, committing to embed quality and optimal user experience throughout the entire development lifecycle to build a sustainable brand moat.
