Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa stated that the company is in talks with two strong potential partners regarding the Maserati brand business. The partnership would impact several Italian plants producing Maserati vehicles, including those in Cassino, Modena, and Pomigliano. On June 17, during a parliamentary hearing in Rome, Filosa responded to lawmakers’ questions about the future of Maserati and the Cassino plant, saying the two potential partners can offer advanced technology and viable solutions. He added that Stellantis is currently finalizing its choice of partner but declined to disclose their identities. Filosa emphasized that Stellantis has no plans to sell the Maserati brand or transfer ownership of the Cassino plant, located near Rome. The fate of the Cassino facility is deeply tied to Maserati, which will continue operating as “an iconic brand embodying Italian style.” He also confirmed that the Cassino plant could participate in vehicle development and production through a joint venture structure in the future. Additionally, the Modena plant—which handles assembly for certain Maserati models—will also be affected by this partnership. The Pomigliano plant, slated for large-scale production of affordable electric vehicles, may also be included in the collaboration. Filosa noted that all Stellantis partnerships in Italy will follow the same model as its existing collaborations with Chinese automakers Leapmotor and Dongfeng Motor—establishing joint ventures in which Stellantis holds a 51% controlling stake. A new strategic plan for Maserati, including two new core models, will be unveiled in December 2024.
