Recently, MG4—the flagship model of SAIC Motor’s MG brand—has drawn a wave of complaints from owners over the launch of its new 2026 model and persistent vehicle noise issues. Some owners reported that when purchasing their vehicles shortly before the 2026 MG4 launch, dealerships and sales staff failed to disclose the imminent release of the updated model. The new version offers additional features at lower prices for certain trims, prompting dissatisfaction among earlier buyers who are now demanding compensation. Additionally, multiple owners have complained of recurring abnormal noises when steering or driving over bumpy roads, with repeated repair attempts failing to resolve the issue completely. In response, MG’s official customer service stated that product configuration upgrades are part of normal model iteration, and upgrading older models requires comprehensive feasibility assessments. The company will continue rolling out functional optimizations via OTA updates. Regarding the noise issue, MG advised affected owners to visit authorized service centers for on-site diagnostics, with specific remedies determined by technicians based on inspection results. Data shows that the MG4 is currently the brand’s top-selling model, accounting for nearly 86% of MG’s domestic retail sales in May 2024. In contrast, Cyberster—the brand’s attempt to break into the premium market—recorded only three retail units sold during the same period.
