Land Rover has recently launched the Discovery Landmark Special Edition, based on the current fifth-generation Discovery. Positioned between the entry-level S and the top-spec Tempest trims, it is priced at £76,000 (approximately RMB 684,000). The new model features an exclusive Tasman Blue paint finish—a tribute to the Clearwater Blue color of the first-generation Discovery—and comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, a refrigerated center console, and numerous unique interior and exterior design elements. Powering the Landmark Edition is exclusively the D350 inline-six diesel engine. The current-generation Discovery has been on sale in the UK since February 2017—nine years now—making it one of the longest-selling models in Jaguar Land Rover’s lineup. The "Landmark" name was previously used for final-edition special versions of the Discovery 2 through Discovery 4 before their discontinuation, and its revival has sparked speculation that this could be the last iteration of the current model. Jaguar Land Rover has not disclosed specific plans for the Discovery’s successor but has indicated it will significantly reinvent the Discovery range to clearly differentiate it from the higher-selling Defender. Mark Cameron, Brand Director at Land Rover, noted that since the Defender’s launch, it has overlapped with the Discovery’s original market positioning and drawn away many customers, making the redefinition of the Discovery’s product proposition a top priority. Reports suggest the next-generation Discovery will be built on the same MLA architecture as the Range Rover, a platform capable of supporting internal combustion, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains—aligning with Jaguar Land Rover’s mid-term strategy of maintaining diverse powertrain options.
