FAW Besturn Pony Safety Concerns Sparked by Multiple In-Transit Loss-of-Control Incidents

Recently, multiple owners of the FAW Bestune Xiao Ma have reported incidents of the vehicle fishtailing and losing control during normal driving. One owner stated that while driving uphill in his 2026 Bestune Xiao Ma, the steering wheel suddenly locked and the brakes hardened, causing the car to crash into a guardrail and spin more than three full rotations—with a two-year-old child inside the vehicle at the time. Several owners have uploaded dashcam footage showing the vehicle abruptly veering out of control without any apparent external cause, colliding with guardrails or median barriers. Owners suspect a systemic design flaw in the model, pointing out that all variants of the Bestune Xiao Ma come standard with narrow tires only 145mm wide and steel rims, offering limited water-displacement capability, and lack an Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The manufacturer initially responded that the issue relates to the rear-wheel-drive layout and insufficient tire grip but has not provided supporting technical data. Experts analyzing the case suggest that cost-cutting measures led to the use of small-diameter tires, yet there is a clear mismatch between power delivery, weight distribution, and tire traction, compounded by chassis tuning that fails to incorporate adequate safety margins. As of now, neither FAW Bestune’s official customer service nor the involved dealerships have issued any public statement regarding these concerns.
