Xiaomi has announced the successful implementation of its self-developed "Xiaomi Titan Alloy 2.0," which utilizes 100% recycled aluminum and is now in mass production for the integrated die-cast rear underbody of its new SU7 and YU7 vehicle models. This marks the first time a Chinese automotive brand has adopted 100% recycled aluminum alloy in integrated die-cast structural components, filling a critical gap in China’s domestic auto industry. According to an independent lifecycle assessment conducted by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and verified under the international Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) system, Xiaomi Titan Alloy 2.0 achieves a carbon footprint of just 1.1 kgCO₂e per kilogram—approximately 93% lower than that of conventional primary aluminum. A technical evaluation organized by the China Machinery Industry Federation confirmed that the material meets internationally advanced standards. The evaluation committee comprised academicians in materials science and top industry experts. Each vehicle using this material reduces CO₂ emissions by approximately 800 kg—equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration of 40 trees. At an annual production volume of 550,000 vehicles, the total annual CO₂ reduction would reach about 450,000 tons, equivalent to the yearly carbon absorption of 20 million trees. Xiaomi Titan Alloy 2.0 has undergone rigorous validation across multiple vehicle models and components, including critical load-bearing structural parts like the rear underbody. It fully complies with stringent automotive requirements for mechanical properties, crashworthiness, and internal quality as assessed by X-ray inspection. The primary manufacturing process includes five-stage pre-treatment of recycled aluminum, melting, precise alloy composition adjustment, refined melt treatment, casting into 100% recycled aluminum ingots, and final integrated die-casting.
