The June 2026 China Automotive Residual Value Research Report shows that among plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), the Aito M8 ranked first in one-year residual value retention at 79.1%, making it the only model approaching the 80% mark. The Tank 400 NEV and Tank 500 NEV followed closely in second and third places with 78.5% and 77.4%, respectively, trailed by models such as the Buick GL8 PHEV, Aito M9, and Tank 300 NEV. The top contenders exhibited relatively narrow gaps in residual value retention. The report noted that popular family-oriented models, rugged off-road PHEVs, and premium extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) generally experience relatively modest depreciation over the short term. In the three-year residual value ranking, the Tank 500 NEV led the pack with 63.5%, the only model surpassing the 60% threshold. The Tank 400 and Haval Menglong secured second and third positions, respectively, underscoring the enduring advantage of off-road-oriented PHEVs in long-term value retention. Multiple models from brands like Li Auto, Aito, and Denza clustered within the 48%–51% range for three-year residual value, while joint-venture and mainstream domestic PHEVs generally fell between 44% and 47%, reflecting more pronounced depreciation. The report categorized all extended-range electric vehicles under the broader PHEV segment for statistical purposes.
