Japanese autonomous driving startup TURING announced on July 6 that it has secured an additional $79 million in Series A extension funding, bringing its total Series A financing to $174 million. The latest round includes a $36 million credit facility from MUFG and $43 million in equity investment from AMD Ventures, Mitsubishi Corporation, MUFG, and Supermicro. TURING completed its first 30-minute continuous autonomous driving test in the suburbs of Tokyo in 2025 and has since replicated these trials on multiple congested road segments across Japan. The company aims to launch its Robotaxi-focused autonomous driving software as early as 2028. The software stack will run on AMD chips to enhance cost competitiveness in the capital-intensive autonomous driving sector. Previously reliant primarily on NVIDIA chips for AI training and inference, TURING has already migrated approximately 10% of its training workloads to AMD GPUs.
