Tesla has begun rolling out version 4.58.5 of its mobile app, introducing a new feature that displays the real-time activation status of Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability directly within the app. When FSD is active, the words “Autopilot” appear prominently in bright blue text beneath the vehicle model on the app interface, accompanied by FSD’s signature glowing blue navigation path—mirroring the visual style shown on the car’s central touchscreen. This feature requires the vehicle to be running onboard software version 2026.20.6.1 and is not limited to vehicles equipped with Hardware 4 (HW4). Although the app now uses a 3D vehicle model, it currently only supports straight-line driving animations and does not render other road elements such as traffic lights. Additionally, this update includes textual prompts indicating Tesla’s plan to use the in-cabin camera to verify driver identity before enabling FSD. Combined with remote FSD status monitoring, these features help owners keep track of their vehicle’s operational state from afar and lay groundwork for future autonomous ride-hailing services.
