Embodied intelligence company Morphi recently announced the completion of a Series A funding round exceeding RMB 1 billion, achieving a post-money valuation surpassing RMB 7 billion. This marks a record for the largest disclosed initial funding round in China’s embodied intelligence sector to date. The round was co-led by Alibaba and Tencent, with participation from over ten leading investment firms, including Guanghe Ventures. Founded in August 2025, Morphi focuses on developing embodied AI "brains" and embodied robots tailored for home and commercial service scenarios. The company was co-founded by Huang Qingqiu and Gao Wenli, both former Huawei executives. Dr. Huang earned his Ph.D. from the Multimedia Lab (MM Lab) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Lin Dahua, Chief Scientist at SenseTime. He has published dozens of top-tier conference papers in computer vision and multimodal AI models. After joining Huawei, he served as Head of Perception Development and later as Head of AI Models, spearheading algorithmic iterations from Huawei’s ADS 1.0 to 4.0 intelligent driving systems and enabling mass production deployment across over one million vehicles. Gao Wenli spent 11 years at Huawei, holding leadership roles in R&D, product management, and as President of an overseas regional business unit. After leaving Huawei, he co-founded iMile, a cross-border logistics company, with former colleague Huang Zhen, building its operations from the ground up and achieving annual revenue exceeding RMB 4 billion.
