On July 8, BYD announced at its Xi'an plant that its 17 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) had officially rolled off the production line, making it the world’s first automaker to reach this milestone. The model produced was the Seagull 08, the flagship sedan of BYD’s Ocean Network. Launched on July 2, the Seagull 08 is priced between RMB 196,900 and RMB 239,900. It features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology, which the company claims enables “5 minutes to charge enough for daily use, 9 minutes to fully charge.” The all-electric version offers a maximum CLTC range of up to 905 kilometers. All variants come standard with the "God’s Eye" advanced intelligent driving assistance system (laser version), providing dual safety assurances for urban navigation and intelligent parking. According to official BYD data, the company’s cumulative sales in the first half of 2026 reached 1,808,511 units, including 789,367 passenger cars and pickups sold overseas—a 68% year-over-year increase. BYD plans to build 20,000 Flash Charging stations nationwide by the end of 2026 and will continue advancing its R&D in electrification and intelligent technologies.
