On July 9, Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi Auto is launching a new product line called "SkyNomad Xiaomi Pengcheng," positioned as an "intelligent, transformable large-space SUV," creating a differentiated lineup alongside the existing SU7/YU7 series. While the SU7/YU7 models emphasize driving performance, technological sophistication, and sportiness, the Pengcheng series focuses on flexible interior space configurations and extended lifestyle scenarios, aiming to evolve the car from a mere means of transportation into a mobile "Nth living space." Xiaomi began developing its "Kunlun Architecture" in early 2023, featuring a completely flat floor and long sliding rails to enable intelligent, usage-based reconfiguration of cabin space. The first model in this series is expected to be a mid-to-large-size range-extended electric SUV targeting family users, with certain variants potentially offering features like pop-up roofs and camping capabilities. According to media reports, the vehicle will offer a pure electric range of approximately 400–500 km, equipped with a battery pack exceeding 70 kWh, positioning it against rivals such as the Li Auto L9 and Leapmotor D19. Battery suppliers include Sunwoda and CNTECH. According to MIIT data released in June, Xiaomi Auto has obtained additional production qualifications for range-extended electric passenger vehicles, with its manufacturing base located at No. 21 Huanjing Road, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. Xiaomi has not yet disclosed specific details about the Pengcheng series, including dimensions, seating layout, or powertrain specifications; further information is expected through official announcements or future MIIT filings. The Pengcheng series carries strategic importance for Xiaomi Auto, tasked with boosting sales volume, increasing average selling price (ASP), and expanding beyond its core "Mi Fan" user base. Xiaomi aims to deliver over 410,000 vehicles in 2025 and 550,000 in 2026. As of the first half of this year, cumulative deliveries have reached approximately 180,000 units, requiring around 370,000 more deliveries in the second half to meet annual targets. The ASP of Xiaomi’s smart EVs has already risen from approximately RMB 235,000 in 2024 to RMB 251,000. The family SUV segment is highly competitive, with established players like Li Auto’s L-series, NIO ES8, and Aito M9 having already built strong brand recognition. Xiaomi’s Pengcheng seeks to differentiate itself through its "transformable space" concept and integration with Xiaomi’s broader "Human-Car-Home Full Ecosystem" strategy, though it must still contend with consumers’ holistic evaluation of fundamental product quality, delivery capability, and long-term reliability. Phase I of Xiaomi Auto’s Beijing factory has a designed annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Although the main structure of Phase II is complete, it has not yet entered stable mass vehicle dispatch operations; construction personnel indicate that final completion will still take several months. Achieving the 550,000-unit annual delivery target will require sustained output significantly exceeding the plant’s nominal capacity.
