On July 16, 2026, Geely Auto Group officially launched the world’s first “Leiting” (Thunder) 16-in-1 intelligent electric drive system. Integrating 16 core hardware components and functions—including the motor, power electronics, and reducer—the entire system weighs just 75 kg and achieves a combined efficiency of 93.8% (CLTC), with energy consumption as low as 8.20 kWh per 100 kilometers. The Geely Galaxy TT equipped with this electric drive system set a Guinness World Record for “Lowest Energy Consumption by a Production Battery Electric Sedan Completing a Lap Around Qinghai Lake” during real-world testing around Qinghai Lake. Additionally, at the East China (Dongying) Intelligent Connected Vehicle Test Field, it achieved a continuous dual-car drift over 46.094 kilometers on wet surfaces, earning the Guinness World Record for “Longest Continuous Dual-Car Drift on a Slippery Surface (Electric Vehicle).” Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, the drive system incorporates multiple advanced technologies, including AI-powered intelligent energy optimization, 0.2mm ultra-thin silicon steel laminations, high-precision gear honing processes, and an inverted-V gear structure—delivering both high efficiency and lightweight design. The all-wheel-drive version delivers a combined output of 425 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Through a single-chip integrated control architecture, the system reduces control response time to as fast as 2 milliseconds, maintains torque deviation within 1%, and features a 54-channel targeted cooling system to enhance thermal management efficiency. In terms of reliability, the drive system has undergone more than 9,000 tests across 15 domains, including extreme temperature cycling from -60°C to 140°C, equivalent aging under high temperature and humidity simulating 300,000 kilometers of operation, rapid thermal shock, and vibration fatigue testing at up to 60g acceleration. It has received the “High-Quality Electric Drive” certification from China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC). Key manufacturing processes achieve micron-level precision, with full traceability of production data throughout the entire process, and the system is equipped with an AI-based lifespan prediction model enabling proactive health management. Developed and manufactured by Stellar Drive Technology, the system benefits from the company’s global R&D footprint spanning multiple locations in China and Gothenburg, Sweden. Stellar Drive currently has an annual production capacity of 3 million electric drive units, supplying brands including Geely, Volvo, Jaguar Land Rover, and Renault. This launch marks a significant milestone for Geely in achieving full-chain autonomy and control in the new energy vehicle “three-electric” (battery, motor, and electronic control) domain.
