Recently, some IM Motors users in Yunnan and Zhuhai reported that after making payments at dealerships, they encountered sudden operational disruptions at those stores, resulting in their inability to obtain refunds. Jiao Qiao, Senior Director of Brand and User Experience at IM Motors, stated that the affected dealerships in both locations belong to the same investor, whose operational issues involve not only IM Motors but also other automotive brands. Some customers were lured by dealer promises such as “receive a 50,000 RMB rebate if delivery is delayed,” which in reality involved misappropriation of funds. Jiao explained that IM Motors will assume responsibility for cases where payments can be clearly linked to specific customer orders, though it will take time to clarify the facts and verify each case. As the company was unaware of certain commitments made by dealers, the resolution process is complex, and IM Motors urges affected customers to allow sufficient time and cooperate during the investigation. Additionally, IM Motors confirmed it will not shift to a direct-sales model in the short term but will tighten dealership admission criteria and enhance oversight of its dealer network, making this a top priority for the company currently.
