Xiaomi Auto will hold the Pengcheng Series Technology Launch Event at 7 p.m. on July 30—its second such event following the inaugural technology launch on December 28, 2023. Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, reflected on the journey of Xiaomi Auto since the debut of its first model, the SU7, and acknowledged that the company faced significant skepticism from the outside world in the early stages of its automotive venture. Lei emphasized that the team has remained steadfast in its belief to “start from core underlying technologies, invest tenfold effort, and build a truly great car with full dedication,” aiming to create a Dream Car that rivals Porsche and Tesla. He credited user and partner trust, along with the team’s confidence in the SU7’s product strength, as key drivers behind the project’s continued progress. The upcoming Pengcheng series marks Xiaomi Auto’s second product line after the SU7/YU7, positioned as an “intelligent, flexible large-space SUV.” Guided by the principle of “first getting the fundamentals right, then innovating boldly,” the series prioritizes spatial experience, range, driving dynamics, and safety—while enabling versatile interior configurations. The event will spotlight the “Xiaomi Kunlun Technology Architecture,” comprising three core components: the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, Xiaomi Kunlun Super Range Extender, and Xiaomi Kunlun All-Terrain Safety system. Two new models will debut simultaneously: - The Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max, a flagship seven-seater large SUV with extended-range electric powertrain, optimized for family long-distance travel; - The Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 Max, a five-seater all-wheel-drive extended-range SUV focused on daily commuting and refined driving feel. Both models feature extended-range electric powertrains and come standard with the “Xiaomi Kunlun Range Extender,” compatible with 92#, 日晚间95#, and 98# gasoline. They achieve a WLTC-rated fuel consumption as low as 5.7 L/100 km under low-state-of-charge conditions. The range extender and triple-electric systems (battery, motor, and electronics) are covered by an 8-year or 160,000-km warranty. Interior highlights include a flat floor, a full-length sliding rail, front seats that rotate 180 degrees, and second-row zero-gravity seats—enabling transformation into workspace or lounge modes when parked. Lei revealed that the Pengcheng series underwent over three years of development, with the first prototype hitting the road on October 12, 2024. By June 30, 2026, the program had accumulated 626 days of testing across two winters and two summers, involving 566 test vehicles covering 4.28 million kilometers. Testing took place in extreme environments, including Heihe at -41°C, the Turpan Basin at 53°C, and Ngari in Tibet at 5,380 meters above sea level. In response to questions about whether the Pengcheng series can replicate the success of the SU7/YU7, Lei stated that rather than focusing on winning or losing, he cares more about delivering a truly impressive product that makes engineers proud. He expressed strong confidence in Pengcheng, noting it has also been refined over more than three years and represents a source of pride for the team. While acknowledging future challenges, he added that the team is now more composed and resilient—and backed by the support of over 700,000 vehicle owners.
