Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the new Marco Polo camper van. The vehicle features a pop-up roof with a double-layer aluminum shell, increasing rear headroom by 100 mm to 370 mm. Inside the roof, optional LED ambient lighting is available, along with choices of a sliding roof or a panoramic opening. When raised, the roof offers unobstructed stargazing, and the accompanying awning now features a detachable design for easier daily use and compatibility with automatic car washes. Inside, the cabin is equipped with magnetic curtains that can be quickly installed or removed and a sound system specially tuned for the Marco Polo, comprising eight speakers and a subwoofer, supporting independent Bluetooth audio playback. The van also includes an upgraded Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control system, drawer slides, a folding table, rear-seat control panels, and a 40-liter refrigerator with 25% improved energy efficiency. Additional amenities include a 12.3-inch display screen, a compact kitchenette with a gas stove and sink, front seats that rotate rearward, and a rear bench seat that folds flat into a bed. Under the hood, the new Marco Polo offers three four-cylinder diesel engines: the base model delivers 120 kW and 380 N·m of torque; the 250 d variant produces 140 kW and 440 N·m; and the top-tier 300 d version generates 174 kW and 500 N·m. All models come paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, with options for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The flagship 300 d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds. The new Marco Polo will open for orders in Europe on August 5, with pricing yet to be announced. The current model starts at €80,664 in Germany.
